Overview

System S, Service Merchandising System is an easy-to-use and practical set of computer programs designed to increase service sales and automate the printing and accounting of repair orders. If you elect to use a laser printer, your RO's can be printed on plain paper, further reducing costs.

Service History

System S keeps a record of the service history for each vehicle. When a customer brings a vehicle in for servicing, System S can display or print out a report of the past service history for the vehicle, along with the recommended maintenance based on time or mileage since it was last done. The vehicle and customer can be by either license plate, serial number, customer number, or by the first few letters of the customers' name.

Repair Orders

The system prints a Repair Order for the service request by the customer. As repair are made and parts are withdrawn, the part information and labor operations are printed along the sides of the hard copy of the repair order. The soft copies of the repair order are reprinted when all repairs are completed and include all labor and part information previously entered.

Vehicle Status

System S shows the status of repairs in progress, showing the requested repairs and their actual or estimated cost, and which repairs have been completed.

Accounting

System S records the price information when a repair order is closed. Labor information can be either copied from estimates or calculated from the time; parts information comes from the parts inventory control system. The parts system ultimately gets its information from the manufacturer's price tapes, which may be adjusted for individual parts or for a range of parts using matrix pricing. This information is made available to the accounting system. The accounting department must indicate how much of the final amount is cash or charge, and has the opportunity to make adjustments, before saving the information in the accounting journals. Errors are minimized by eliminating re-entry of amounts yet allowing the accounting department final approval.

Shop Scheduling

The scheduling program keeps track of the daily schedules of individual technicians and the entire shop. These schedules can be displayed or printed out. The schedule program also allows you to look up a vehicle and display or print recommended service, and to display or print bar graphs of technician and shop utilization.

Mailing Lists

Groups of customer can be selected based on criteria such as when the vehicles are due for maintenance, whether they have been in recently or not, or whether they are affected by a recall campaign. You can print a list of these customers, or print a batch of post cards, labels or form letters for them.

Training

Initial training provided at your dealership. This training takes about two days. The initial training is provided as part of the purchase price of System S.
