5. Current Events: International issues, conflict, teenage issues, violence, politics,

6. General Information On Countries: Size, government, major industries, etc.

7. Shared Social and Environmental Problems

8. General Information About Each Country's History: Maybe focus on something that the students are proud of and ashamed of in each other's histories? That is just one way to address the very big topic of "history".

10. General Cultural Topics: Foods, holidays, marriage, dating, school uniforms,

11. Other Topics?

Suggested Places To Meet

1. Any Public Place: Parks, Winona Senior High, Winona State, Saint Mary's, restaurants, coffee houses, libraries, grocery store, etc.

2. Your Home (Only If Another Member of Your Family Is Present): Maybe invite them over for a visit or for a meal.

3. Other suggestions: Imagine you are a tourist guide for Winona. Show the international student all the different parts of the city. Take them to musical, drama, and sports events, favorite stores, the bank, etc. Wherever you go, ask them to compare what they see to the same kinds of places in their home countries. Always look for similarities and differences.
